Prominent Labor Organizations Continue Lining Up Behind Mayor Ginther

Columbus, OH — Today, the hardworking men and women who quite literally keep central Ohio and Columbus operating put their support behind Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther. The American Federation Of State County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Power In Action says Mayor Ginther is the leader Columbus needs, endorsing his campaign for a third term.

AFSCME Power In Action combines AFSCME Local 8 brothers and sisters with AFSCME’s local retiree chapter, representing over 7,000 state, city, county, municipality, hospital, university and nonprofit workers. Mayor Ginther agrees with AFSCME that every person working to make Columbus a better place to live through hard work deserves respect. In fact, ensuring Columbus’ neighborhoods are open to all who work in America’s Opportunity City is a campaign pillar of the Mayor this year and beyond.

“Labor continues to line up behind Mayor Andrew Ginther, showing Columbus he is the workers’ partner in 2023 and beyond. The Mayor is honored by the continued support of AFSCME and our municipal labor partners who keep Columbus moving from the ground up each and every day. Without them, Columbus would not be what it is today. Mayor Ginther looks forward to continuing his close relationship with AFSCME, supporting their critical work in the years to come,” said Ginther campaign spokesperson Cameron Keir.

AFSCME joins a growing list of prominent political, civic and labor organizations including the Franklin County Democratic Party, Central Ohio Young Black Democrats, the Columbus Education Association, the Central Ohio Labor Council, the Communication Workers of America Local 4502, the Columbus/Central Ohio Building & Construction Trades Council, The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers & Trainmen, The Baptist Ministerial Alliance and the Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund to endorse Mayor Ginther for a third term this fall. Mayor Ginther is the endorsed Democrat in this November’s Mayoral Election.
