Columbus, OH — This morning, the United State Supreme Court ruled admissions policies at Harvard and the University of North Carolina are too race-conscious and violate the Constitution. The high court’s ruling ultimately ends affirmative action policies in college admission across the country, a decision that will directly impact many college students and applicants right here in Columbus. Following the ruling, Mayor Andrew Ginther issued the following statement through his reelection campaign:

“This is another disappointing decision from the Supreme Court. Thousands of Columbus youth are going to have yet another barrier in their lives to prove they belong at top colleges and universities across the country.  I will continue to work around the clock to ensure opportunities in Columbus remain accessible to all who call this fantastic city home. Columbus is America’s Opportunity City and there shouldn’t be any barriers to the success you can find here regardless of your race, identity, background, address or occupation,” said Mayor Andrew Ginther
