Columbus, OH — Today, radical Ohio lawmakers made it clear that they believe they know better than the majority of Columbus residents. In an effort to keep reproductive rights off the ballot, the Ohio House of Representatives just approved a bill creating an August election for the sole purpose of making it harder for Ohioans to amend the Constitution, while directly challenging work to codify abortion rights into state law. In response, Mayor Ginther’s campaign issued the following statement on his behalf.

“Mayor Andrew Ginther firmly believes every Ohioan should have access to a safe and affordable abortion under Ohio law. That’s exactly why he has been and will continue to be a staunch supporter of codifying reproductive rights in Ohio’s Constitution. Mayor Ginther urges Columbus neighbors to vote NO on any issue placed before them this August to diminish their right to amend Ohio law. This fight is far from over, and the Mayor looks forward to working with Democratic leadership to ensure the will of Ohio voters on access to reproductive rights is heard loud and clear,” said Ginther campaign spokesperson Cameron Keir.
